POLISH TAXONOMICAL SOCIETY

History

The Polish Taxonomical Society was founded on December 30, 1991 by a group of young Polish taxonomists working on various groups of invertebrates. These 25-30 persons during several years met on scientific seminaries organized by Dr. Lech Borowiec and Dr. Grzegorz Gabrys at the Department of Zoology, Agricultural University in Wroclaw. The Polish Taxonomical Society unites only actively working taxonomists, both professional and amateur but with published scientific papers.

In 1990, before the formal founding of the Society, the first fascicle of the new quarterly "Genus - International Journal of Invertebrate Taxonomy" was published. To this date nine volumes of the quarterly and eight monographic supplement volumes appeared.
